Five Haiku

In morning twilight –

the coots are sparse and spread out.

Rafts back with sunrise.

Let the view simmer.

Phone fails to catch full grandeur –

of what my eyes see.

Woman with kayak –

heads out before sun shows.

Across lake and back.

Portable kayak.

She carried it to Wingra –

then carried it out.

She wants one more week –

to enjoy lake before freeze.

It's thirty degrees.
