Thorton Wilder was born on April 17, 1897 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Thorton Wilder - American playwright and novelist; Wilder was born on April 17, 1897 in Madison, Wisconsin. He won three Pulitzer Prizes. One Pulitzer for the novel The Bridge of San Luis Rey, and the other two Pulitzer Prizes for his plays Our Town and The Skin of Our Teeth, He also won a U.S. National Book Award for his novel The Eighth Day.
