Five Haiku
Forty-eight degrees.
Loon calls from skunk cabbage seep.
Then calls once again.
Back at their hangout –
Red-winged blackbirds in cattails.
Darting among tops.
Flock of ducks swimming –
and then wingtap twenty feet.
Did something nudge them?
Turkeys on Spring Trail.
They take flight over the road –
and then over me.
Bloodroot is growing -
between the Oak Savanna –
and Monroe sidewalk.
