Tall Garden Phlox - Phlox paniculata (Introduced/naturalized)
Tall Garden Phlox is an introduced (naturalized) wildflower that grows from 2' to 4' tall.
Tall Garden Phlox flowers have either purple, pink or white blossoms. The blossoms are grouped in panicles (a loose branching cluster of flowers) with many branching stems.
Tall Garden Phlox blossoms have 5 petals and are fused at the base (forming a slender tube about 1 inch long). Inside the tube are yellow-tipped stamens.
Other names: Fall phlox, garden phlox, perennial phlox, summer phlox.
Above: Tall Garden Phlox and Dames Rocket are often confused. The easiest way to distinquish between them is that Tall Garden Phlox (above left) has 5-petal blossoms and Dames Rocket (above right) has 4-petal blossoms.
