Wisconsin State Flower: Wood Violet (Viola papilionacea)


The Wisconsin State Flower is the Wood Violet (Viola papilionacea).

Wisconsin State Flower (The Wood Violet) - An 1908, Wisconsin school children nominated four candidates for state flower: the violet, wild rose, trailing arbutus, and white water lily. On Arbor Day 1909, the final vote was taken, and the violet won. But, it wasn't until the Chapter 218, Laws of 1949 that the wood violet became the official Wisconsin state flower.
