Tiger Lily - Lilium lancifolium (Introduced/Adventive)

Introduced into North America from East Asia, the Tiger Lily was planted as an ornamental because of its showy orange-and-black flowers.

It has escaped gardens in numerous scattered parts of the United States and since become naturalized. However, it is not considered aggressive or invasive and is still widely cultivated for its attractive flowers.

Tiger Lily flowers resemble those of the native Michigan Lily (Lilium michiganense) but the leaves are distinctly different, and Tiger Lily has unique bulbets in the leaf axils.
